A fact sheet is a presentation of information and data in a format that emphasizes key points concisely, usually using tables, bullet points, and/or headings, on a single printed page. It generally contains summaries of research, product information, technical data, lists, statistics, answers to common questions, educational material, or how to “do it yourself” advice. Many medical societies or organizations fit the essential information on their diseases themselves, diagnosis, and management recommendation into their own factsheet. The Korean Society of Nephrology has started to publish its own factsheets since May 2019 as the name of “Korean kidney diseases stated in figures”. A total of 9 factsheets has been dealt with 9 important and practical topics in Korean kidney disease patients as follows; the general status of chronic kidney disease, the general status of end-stage kidney diseases, temporal changes of glomerular diseases, mineral bone disorders of pre-dialysis chronic kidney disease patients, mineral bone disorders in dialysis patients, anemia of chronic kidney disease patients, the general status of kidney transplantation recipients, and the general status of live kidney donors. These factsheets were based on the results analyzed by using the National Health Insurance Service database, Korean GlomeruloNephritis Study Group retrospective cohort database, and KNOW-CKD prospective cohort database, all of which are able to be the representative database for Korean kidney disease patients. KSN factsheet may be considered as a good start to provide information on Korean specific characteristics of kidney disease patients to a variety of nephrologists, dialysis special nurses, industry, and even the general population. However, further long-term perspectives for the KSN factsheet is warranted based on the consensus in the concordance of the Korean Society of Nephrology’s future extension.
