Number of biomarkers for AKI have been discovered and validated for clinically use in the past decades. However, the potential roles of these biomarkes in AKI are various in each clinical setting. This session will start with the classification of AKI biomakers which includes stress, damage and functional markers. Some basic mechanism and kinetics of each biomarker will be mentioned. AKI biomarkes could be use for AKI risk assessment, prediction of AKI, diagnosis of AKI, determining severity of AKI, guiding AKI management such as kidney replacement therapy initiation, and assessment of kidney recovery. Clinical experience might be shared by case vignettes.
